Plan the route to the doorway.
Show the assessor the path you use to reach the chair and where you would go after leaving it. Include door swing, gates, thresholds and a walking aid if needed. Another obstacle beyond the rail may need a separate solution.
Request an outdoor-rated model and its own instructions for exposure, cover use, charging and care. An indoor chair lift is not made suitable for outdoor use by a roof over part of the entrance.
In your East Haven quote, separate the equipment from preparation and electrical work. Identify who does each part and who services the model afterward. Confirm any shared-property permission before accepting an installation date.
Three questions for your East Haven comparison
- Can I use the whole route from the path through the door?
- What limits and cover routine apply outdoors?
- Which preparation and servicing arrangements are included?
Before requesting an assessment
Describe the route and the rooms you want to reach. Give your actual CT address and ask the provider to confirm service there. The person who will use the chair should be involved in a demonstration and the final choice of seat, controls and stopping positions.
If you are helping someone else, use the printable checklist together. You do not need to choose a model before discussing the route, but the installer needs measurements before confirming fit.
